Playschool: All About School

I'm teaching a playschool out of my home this year for two year olds.

This is some of what we did this week:

Theme: All About School

First Day:

They could color or play with toys

{free choice.  Just wanted to make sure that cry for your mom/dad wasn't one of the choices. :)}

Putting stickers on the Letter A.

Some kids could peel of the stickers themselves. 

Others I had to put them on the edge of the table for them to pick up and place them.

Great activity for their little hands and minds!

 Craft: School Bus Craft

I just drew the road.  Cut out the sun and tore white construction paper for clouds.

Bought the bus dicuts from a teacher store.

 Snack: School Bus

Graham cracker with yellow frosting.  Chex or life cereal for window.  Oreos for wheels.

 Day 2:

 Sensory table with alphabet letters and numbers and pom poms

Dollar Tree is a where I bought the little blue buckets and scoopers.

 School Supplies Shadow Activity:

I took some school supplies and drew the outline on construction paper.  Then, I put the paper inside a sheet protector sleeve.  The kids had to match up the item with the shadow outline.

This was more challenging for some but by the end all the kids were doing it.  It's easier to remove all the items out of the tray and have them point to the glue on the paper.  Then, you put the glue bottle there.  Where is the scissors on the paper?  Then, give them the scissors to place there. etc...

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Celery

Gold Fish Crackers

Cream Cheese

Blue Food Coloring

Just soften the cream cheese.  Add blue.  Generously apply it to the cleaned and cut celery sticks.  Add the fish!  Super cute and easy!

I sent extra Goldfish in little baggies so the kids could use them to scrap out the cream cheese.

So fun!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

We had snack when it was Letter T week.  She was going to have the kid's make Christmas candy trains.  So, this is what I came up with for snack that day:

Train Trail Mix!

 I bought the little containers at Dollar Tree {3 for $1}

I already had name badge labels, so I just typed these labels up to put on top.

You would be completely fine without them. :)

Grabbed the engine of one of my kid's toy trains in their playroom and TaDa!

 "D" is for "Dinosaur Dig" Snack!

We had snack for the week of letter "D".  My son's preschool was focusing on Dinosaurs during the "D" unit.  Since they were going to dig for fossils and do a craft with "dinosaur bones" I figured this snack would go PERFECT with their theme.  I got the idea from one of my "teacher books" from Scholastic "26 Easy & Adorable Alphabet Recipes for Snacktime"

Materials Needed:

24 oz. clear plastic cups

Graham Crackers

Oreos

Vanilla or Banana Pudding

Chocolate Pudding

Coconut Flakes

Green Food Coloring

Plastic Dinosaurs 

{found my dinos at Walmart in the toy section.  But I've seen them at the Dollar Tree too!}

 Step 1: 

Put coconut flakes in a sandwich bag.  Drop a few drops of green food coloring in there.  Give it a good shake/mix to color the "grass" green!

Put the graham crackers and Oreos in separate bags and crush them with a rolling pin until they look like "dirt". 

 Step 2:

Start layering the cups.  

First Layer- Crushed Oreos

Second Layer- Crushed Graham Crackers

 Third Layer- Vanilla or Banana Pudding
Fourth Layer- Plastic Dinosaur (washed and dried)

I just put the dinosaur in the middle on top of the Vanilla pudding.

Fifth Layer- Crushed graham crackers

Sixth Layer- Chocolate Pudding

Seventh Layer- Crushed graham crackers

Final Layer- "Grass" green colored coconut flakes

Have your lil' paleontologists "dig in" & enjoy!
